Over the last decade more than 50% of Triads have occurred on a Monday afternoon/evening, and last winter all three Triad periods were on Mondays.
Of course, Mondays are no colder on average than any other day of the week, so why do we see this strong pattern? VuePoint analysis identifies a significantly lower demand side response (DSR) on Mondays, which seems to explain it. The reason for this lower response is at least partly explained by the operation of most Triad warning services, which do not issue warnings over the weekend – meaning businesses have less time to put their DSR into effect, unless they act on often inaccurate warnings produced three days ahead on the Friday.
