The VuePoint Triad Modelling service allows consumers to make better informed decisions regarding their load management choices in relation to their avoidance costs. VuePoint applies a transparent simulation approach presenting results both as simple traffic light and actual probabilities. This service provides an independent view of triad, offering a transparent rather than “black box” approach.
VuePoint launched its innovative Triad warning service on October 31st 2016 for the 2016-17 Triad season.

Shows Actual Probabilities
The service is designed to fill a specific ‘gap in the market’ by providing a probability of a Triad occurring today or tomorrow; rather than the traditional and simplistic yes/no/maybe alert which is the norm.
Higher Accuracy with Fewer Warnings
The service correctly warned for all three Triads and for the correct period, including the significantly revised INDO (Initial National Demand Outturn) on the 23rd Jan. The service generated only 27 red alerts compared with over 40 sent out by some other providers.
Model Runs Four Times Per Day
The service generates the following alerts:
- 10am, 12pm, 3pm and 5pm day-ahead
- 10am, 12pm, 3pm and 5pm on the day
What is Your Risk Appetite
The VuePoint service facilitates enhanced planning and implementation of Triad avoidance strategies. This allows a more accurate reflection of the individual user’s avoidance cost structure and risk appetite compared to other black box, binary Triad alerting services.
Continuously Enhanced
Post-run improvements to the model have reduced the number of alerts that would now be generated down to 22 for the same risk profile, whilst those opting for a higher risk profile would only have received 16 red alerts and still hit all 3 Triads.
